Trust How They Act

I remember learning an important life lesson years ago when I broke up with my first serious boyfriend. I was explaining to my friend how I didn't understand why he wasn't putting in any effort like he said he wanted to. My friend, lovingly, explained to me that sometimes people say things and then act a different way – and that if he is acting like he doesn't care then I should believe him. It's a sad fact, but a true one.

If you care about someone and want to talk to them, do it – and if they want you in their life they will do the same. Simple as that.

But if someone is far away and distant, or isn't putting the effort in that you are, trust their actions over the empty things they say. It may not be like that forever if you both take care of your bond and put in the effort, but it's important to accept that it may be like that for now.

1. It is cheesy and cliche, but actions sometimes speak louder than words.

"People may not always tell you how they feel about you, but they will always show you. Pay attention."

2. If they want to see you, they will when they can.

"It isn't about 'having' time. It's about making time."

3. This is key advice.

"When people treat you like they don't care, believe them."

4. It may seem cheesy but it is true, don't leave the relationships you care about to chance.

"Why do people always say 'if we're meant to be, we're meant to be.' Don't they know that without effort, destiny doesn't work?"

5. This is the most important advice, no matter how things change between two people. If you care, show them with all your heart.

"Never stop showing someone how much they mean to you."
