So, I'm a huge rom com fan. I'll watch any and all romantic comedies. It doesn't matter if they're sappy, stupid or extremely predictable, I'll watch it AND I'll enjoy it too! There are so many good romantic comedies but none of them will ever beat the ones that are based on Nicholas Sparks books. If I know I'm going to watch those movies, I'll prepare with a box of tissues and ice cream. That's the only way you can survive those movies! Nicholas Sparks is a name that everybody knows but not many people know about his life or how he writes the books. Here is everything you need to know about the famous romance novel author!

Can you believe Nicholas was responsible for making us all cry when Noah told Allie that he wrote her a letter every day?

I don't care, I will always ship Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams together.

He also made us cry when he came up with the story of John leaving Savannah for the war.

Channing Tatum is so attractive. I can't.

And don't forget when Landon helped Jamie complete her wish of being in two places at once.

And then the whole world was introduced to Scott Eastwood in The Longest Ride and all of us were thankful. But now let's get down to learning everything about Nicholas Sparks!

1. Nicholas only started writing after he was sidelined with a sports injury after his first year in college.

He finished his first novel during the summer even though it was never published.

Nicholas often takes inspiration from his life for his novels!

3. Nicholas had his own romantic story! He met his wife Cathy when they were both vacationing for spring break. They were both in Florida and he told her that he was going to marry her as soon as he saw her.

They were married for 26 years before separating last year.

5. Nicholas based Jamie from A Walk to Remember on his younger sister. Daniel was just like Jamie who always carried a Bible, was never popular in school and always wore sweaters people thought were ugly. She also passed away from cancer.

The plot was even inspired by her life. Nicholas said that Danielle met a man who wanted to marry her even though he knew she was sick and even when he found out she might not make it.

6. Before he made it big, Nicholas couldn't make a living as a writer. He worked odd jobs and wrote on the side. He decided that he would write three more novels. If nothing got published, he'd move on to something else.

He wrote The Notebook, found an agent, sold the manuscript and got a $1 million movie rights contract.

7. In between writing bestsellers, Nicholas practices Tae Kwon Do. He's a black belt who has competed regionally and nationally!

And he's clearly a dog lover according to the pic which makes him even better in my book!

9. He's experienced a lot of tragedy in his life and uses his novels to work through the difficult times. He wrote Message in a Bottle after his mom died in a horseback riding accident.

10. For The Last Song, it was the first time Nicholas wrote the screenplay before the novel. And he only did it because Miley Cyrus reached out and said she loved A Walk to Remember and wanted to work with him immediately on something.
